During the summer, we and our pets are happier. We often believe that everything is great and that there is no reason to be concerned. Actually, the summer is even more dangerous time of a year for your pet than winter. During the summer, your pet spends a lot of time outside, so this is a reason to be more careful. There are many health hazards for your pet. Here are some of them.
• Snake bites can the most dangerous. If you live or you are visiting an area where snakes live, keep your dog on a leash. Dogs are curious, so they may want to play with a snake. In this case, a snake can bite your dog. The bite can lead to airways swelling, organ failure and death. Don’t think that your dog is safe just because he is vaccinated.
• Bees can be a big trouble. You remember that a bee sting causes pain and it can lead to more severe health issues. The same situation is with your pet. If you notice that your dog is licking and scratching some area, it can be a bee sting.
• Mosquitoes can also be dangerous. They can transmit Dirofilaria immitis. This is a deadly heartworm. There is a treatment for dogs, but it is expensive and it isn’t successful every time. On the other side, there is no treatment for cats.
• Your pet can also develop certain infections. If you notice a watery eyes and sneezing, you should take your dog to a veterinarian. If you notice that your dog is chewing and licking his paws, he may have an ear or skin infection.
