We like calm dogs that are well-trained and smart. But, there are many aggressive dogs. In most cases, the reason why they are aggressive is because they are not trained or they were isolated when they were puppies. But, Spanish researchers found that there is another cause of aggression. It is pain.
Spanish researchers analyzed 12 dogs. All of them were aggressive. The dogs, used in this study were; pit bull, two German shepherds, Doberman, Neapolitan mastiff, Dalmatian, Shih Tzu, giant schnauzer, chow-chow, Irish setter and Catalan sheepdog. There were 11 males and 1 female. Researchers found that all dogs were aggressive because of the pain. 8 dogs suffered from hip dysplasia. These records were published by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
After the study, researchers determined that dogs can be aggressive because of constant pain they feel. All of these dogs were never aggressive, before they had health issues.
Hip dysplasia is a degenerative bone disorder. It affects the joint that connects the head of the thing bone and the hip. It can affect any breed of dog but it is less common in smaller breeds. According to the researchers, this disease is the main factor for dogs becoming aggressive.
If your dog is aggressive, you should take him to the veterinary. In fact, this should be your priority. Aggressive dogs are very dangerous for you and people around you. They are even more dangerous for children and other pets. Of course, if your dog was always aggressive, it probably has no health issues. Because of this, regular visitations to the veterinarian are mandatory.
