Cats are very popular and famous mammal. People love to keep cats as their pet. Cat is a mammal that loves to stay indoors in complete luxurious atmosphere. They become good friends. They accompany a small child in playing. The word cat was first introduced together with the domestic animal itself, to the Roman Republic in the 1st century B.C. its domestication started in Europe. There are different names associated with the gender. The female cats are usually known as Queen and the male cats are usually known as Tom or Tom Cat. Two types of cats are related according to the progenitor. The first being a Pedigreed Cat and the second being the African Wild Cat. Basic features of Pedigreed and African Wild Cats Pedigreed cats – this is the type of progenitor whose ancestry is recorded by a fancy organization. These pedigreed cats are exhibited as show cats. These groups of cats are used by human in circuses for entertainment. Their intelligence and swift movements makes them the hero within the gallery where they are trained to perform different tricks and show. African wild cats – this type of progenitor is the ancestral subspecies from which domestic cats are descended. These cats were used by the African in hunting small animals like wild rats and other pests. These cats are very friendly by nature. They were considered to be the wild cats and were used only in hunting prey. But gradually they started to stay with the Africans in their houses. Gradually they stated to stay as pets. From then onward these African cats were hybridized with domesticated cats for the production of good domestic cats.
